A Call to Prayer

March 2 marks the beginning of Lent—a season of self-denial and prayer modelled after Jesus’ 40 day fast after his baptism, prior to the launch of his public ministry.

As the LMT Prayer Circle gathered in February reflecting on the ministry challenges and general weariness that have arisen as a result of the pandemic, the sense of isolation and scatteredness of Christ-followers, and the upcoming season of Ramadan (April 2-May 2 this year) we spent time praying together for the Church and for those ministering to Muslims. We had already been encouraged by the Enlargement Circle to consider hosting a ‘prayer event’ as they were sensing that people are discouraged.

While we were praying, we felt that a day, or even several days event, was not what the Lord was inviting us to. Rather the sense was to devote the whole season of Lent to focused prayer together for Muslims in Canada and around the world, and for churches, ministries and individuals who are the means of making the gospel known to them.

Just as Jesus fasted and prayed prior to ministry, so we are inviting you to fast and pray with us, as restrictions are easing, and ministry opportunities are emerging.

We urge you to join with others in the LMT Network in a season of prayer.

March 2-4 – Online prayer together from 12:00-1:00pm ET hosted by Erwin van Laar (if you weren't able to join us last week we welcome you to gather with us next time we meet in April)

March 5-April 10 – Ongoing individual and small group prayer, with encouragement for one another posted in the LMT Members Connect portal* (in the Prayer Circle space)

April 11-13 – Online prayer together from 12:00-1:00pm ET hosted by Erwin van Laar

If you want to join, please let us know by clicking here.

If you’re unable to join the online meetings, please join in anyways from wherever you are. If you sense the Lord giving you words of encouragement or exhortation, please share them by posting them in the Prayer Circle Hub space on the LMT Members Connect portal.

(*If you’re a member, log in to the Circle Hub and scroll down to the Prayer Circle. If you’re not yet a member, please join so we can encourage and help one another.)

Entering into a season of prayer,

Lorna Johnston, Erwin van Laar, Leslie Precht, Diane Carlson, Cristina Boersma and the rest of the LMT Prayer Circle.
