Community

1. a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. 
2. a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. 

 Loving Muslims Together began over a decade ago, (at that time under the name Canadian Network of Ministries to Muslims), in response to a challenging opportunity: the increasing immigration of Muslims to Canada, and a Canadian Church that was ill-equipped to lovingly welcome them and introduce them to Jesus Christ. At that time there were only a handful of ministries and individuals actively engaging in Muslim ministry and equipping other Christians to join them. 

Today the situation has changed significantly. What’s still true is the continuing growth in migration of Muslims to Canada. But today there are far more ministries, churches and individuals leaning in to offer a loving introduction to Jesus Christ.  

Still a persistent reality of this ministry is that it is at times challenging and discouraging, and it can be lonely. It’s not a ‘glamorous’ calling to love people who are remarkably different in their beliefs, values, and behaviours. It’s not always ‘fun’ to persevere in loving and serving, while seeing no indication that God is moving hearts and minds towards him. We continue by faith, believing that God is at work and that someday we’ll see the fruit of our labors. 

But we don’t have to walk alone. 

While we may be scattered across Canada, we share much in common, and that is the basis for our fellowship together—our community. Lean in. Join hands with others who walk the same road.
