LMT Network Digest - June 2024

June 11, 2024

He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Luke 10:2

Each day at 10:02 my cell phone alarm goes off. Wherever I am and whatever is going on, I breathe a quick prayer, ‘Lord, thrust out more workers into the harvest.’

Three times, in the last 3 days, God has brought the parallel scripture, found in Matthew’s gospel to my attention:

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”  Matthew 9:36-38

Jesus’s response of compassion to the harassed and helpless crowds was a clear call to pray.

I’m so glad that his instructions weren’t to work harder! I’m so glad he didn’t tell us to get busier! Instead, he calls us to pray, specifically, that the Lord of the harvest would send out workers.

Catalyzing this type of prayer is a key priority for the LMT Network. As we pray for the workers that are already laboring and as we pray for our Muslim friends and neighbours, let’s not neglect to pray together for more workers!

The LMT Prayer Circle is the key group of volunteers who are entrusted with the priority of catalyzing compassion-motivated prayer because of the crowds of harassed and helpless Muslims in Canada. But recently, for a variety of reasons, members of this team have needed to step away from their role. We are looking for new members to be part of catalyzing prayer.

If you are interested in prayer being multiplied across Canada so that every Muslim in Canada would have the opportunity to discover who Jesus is, then please let us know—you can email either ljohnston@outreach.ca or cboersma@outreach.ca to explore this invitation.

In the meantime, why don’t you set your alarm for 10:02, and join me in praying daily for more workers?

PS. How can we pray for you? Please give us the privilege of standing with you in prayer by sending your prayer request using this form. We commit to bringing your prayer needs to our online monthly prayer calls, held the last Friday of each month.

Lorna Johnston,

LMT National Chairman
