NETWORK LIFE

September 8, 2022

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest-ready fields.” Matthew 9:36-39

Everything starts with prayer. Anything of eternal significance is rooted in prayer, because it is in prayer that Christians can be in tune with God’s heart. Prayer is a calling, perhaps the highest of all for a Christ-follower, an invitation to enjoy God’s presence, to know Him more and to join Him where He is already at work. As Rev. Dr. David Chotka and Rev. Marcus Verbrugge teach in the Transform! Prayer Course, through prayer “God calls us to engage in the same work in which He Himself is engaged – to do the same thing He Himself is presently doing!”

Jesus directs us to pray, to ask God to send out workers into his harvest. Jesus’s habit of prayer is exposed throughout the Gospels and sets an example for us to follow if we want to be transformed to be like Him and used according to His purposes for our lives.

According to Prayercast, a ministry of OneWay, “Muslims everywhere are confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in greater numbers since 2000 -- even in mass movements -- than in the 1300 years prior. God is using every means to bring the Truth of Jesus to His beloved children and to ignite the innate desire to know their Creator. In 1980, there was only one Christian missionary for every one million Muslims; today there is one for every 100,000. Many more missionaries are needed; God is preparing Muslim souls to receive the Truth of Jesus. The harvest is ripe.”

Pray for Muslims in Canada

Do you have Muslims neighbors? Do your children have Muslims classmates? Do you ever eat at a restaurant in your neighborhood owned by Muslims? Have you ever noticed if there's a mosque or Muslims Association close to your house or church?

There are an estimated 1,921,418 Muslims in Canada, which amounts to 5.08% of the Canadian population. Would you pray for them to come to know the love of Jesus?  Would you pray for more workers to be sent into this harvest field? Pray With Others

There is likely a local prayer group meeting to pray for the Muslims in your community. We encourage you to get connected and become part of that praying community. We’ll be glad to introduce you if you don’t already know them.

Here are some upcoming prayer events that we encourage you to join, praying with others for the Muslims in our community.

Monthly Call to Prayer, Mission Nexus - September 11, 2022

From the Mission Nexus website:

“CALL TO PRAYER is partnering with Missio Nexus this fall to host a virtual monthly prayer gathering. It is designed to engage others in the discipline of prayer – specifically for the Muslim world.

The CALL TO PRAYER format is a unique combination of guest speakers, interviews, and small breakout prayer rooms. It provides a dynamic environment for both learning and engaging in effective prayer. Connect with other Christian believers as we pray strategically for the spiritual and physical needs of Muslims.

Together we can play a vital role in impacting the world”.

LMT Online Prayer & Fasting Gatherings (last Friday of the month), September 30, 2022

Put aside the last Friday of each month as a focused day of prayer and fasting. It's an opportunity to join with others in the LMT community across Canada.

We specifically want to pray into these areas:

  • That God would strengthen and encourage those who are reaching out and ministering to Muslims in Canada.
  • That God would raise up and strengthen the leadership of the LMT network. What is the call for the days ahead? What ‘new thing’ might the Lord want to show us?
  • That God would stir the hearts of many Muslims in Canada and that we would rejoice together as we hear of many choosing to become disciples of Jesus Christ.

We will meet for one hour on Zoom at:

  • 8am PDT/11am EDT – hosted by Lorna Johnston
  • 1pmPDT/4pm EDT – hosted by Erwin Van Laar
  • 5pm PDT/8pm EDT – hosted by Judy Dancer

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion.
