Thunder Bay is the largest city in Northwestern Ontario, an amalgamation of Port Arthur and Fort William in 1970. The symbol of Thunder Bay is a sleeping giant, a geographical formation that is evident from the city.

Lakehead University and Confederation College are located in Thunder Bay and they have a population of about 2500 international students.

Thunder Bay is a center for Indigenous peoples of Canada and there is a lot of ministry focus on this population. The percentage of Muslims in this city is small. There is a mosque community to pray for so we pray in obedience for God’s blessing and to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

Number of Mosques: 1 (Thunder Bay Masjid)

Number of Churches: 35

Please pray:

For God’s blessing on the Thunder Bay Masjid and for the community to get to know friendly Christians who will introduce them to the Jesus of the Bible.

For churches to work together in unity for the mission of the Gospel and effective Gospel witness.

For ministries of compassion that reach out and assist newcomers to the community.

For campus ministries at Lakehead University and Confederation College and support for international students.

For the churches to be receptive to newcomers and to welcome Muslims into the community.

About Loving Muslims Together

Loving Muslims Together exists because God’s love, demonstrated through Jesus Christ, is for Muslims. We function as local networks across Canada. We work to connect people and churches to opportunities, training and resources to help them build bridges to their Muslim neighbours, living out God’s love in word and deed.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion.
