LMT Network Digest - June 2022
June 10, 2022
Where were you on January 1, 2018?
It’s unlikely that you can remember. I can’t.
But something momentous began that day—the 10/10 Prayer and Fasting initiative. This initiative is an invitation for organizations, churches, and individuals to join together for the next ten years, starting January 1, 2018, asking our Heavenly Father for at least 10% of Muslims to be saved (Romans 10:9).
The initiative was birthed out of a global consultation during which it was discerned that the Holy Spirit was inviting the global Christian community to commit ourselves to prayer and fasting for 10 years.
In the fall of 2018 at the LMT Nation Conference, we joined this prayer initiative. We’ve been gathering online once a month on Fridays to pray since that commitment was made. Maybe you’ve joined us?
At the end of 2022, we will be halfway!
In Canada, the Muslim population is nearing 2 million, and continues to grow each year. Our share of the global prayer goal is that around 200,000 Muslims in Canada would come to faith in Jesus Christ. Think about it. It makes me smile to imagine the impact that would have on our country and on the church.
If we’re honest, although we’re halfway through the prayer commitment, we haven’t seen 100,000 Muslims following Jesus Christ—the goal we’re praying for seems impossible. But Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” And Hebrews 12:1b reminds us to ‘run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus…’
In a marathon it's important to take in nutrition and fluids to have strength to continue. Gathering with others for prayer is like that. Will you join me in renewing your commitment to pray regularly and persistently that we would see many of our Muslim friends and neighbours becoming disciples of Jesus Christ? Join one of the LMT prayer groups on the last Friday of each month. Be refreshed and encouraged to persist in prayer.
