Keep Praying!

The month of Ramadan has passed for another year. Many of you were focused on daily prayer for Muslims around the world and here in Canada. In 2016 at our LMT National Conference Dr. David Garrison pointed out the ‘coincidence’ that as global prayer began to be mobilized for Muslims during the month of Ramadan, it marked the start of a trend of more Muslims became followers of Jesus Christ.  If you haven’t read his book, A Wind in the House of Islam, I commend it to you.

Two years later, in 2018, again at our LMT National Conference, our speaker made the observation that Islam is essentially a prayer movement—devout Muslims pray five times daily, and fast and pray during the month of Ramadan. He stated that we need to meet the Islamic prayer movement with a prayer movement of our own! It was at that conference that we affirmed the call from a global consultation to fast and pray for 10 years, from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2027, that 10% of Muslims globally (including here in Canada) would become disciples of Jesus Christ. We are in our seventh year of praying. You can learn more at their website.

This past week we met with a leader who immigrated to Canada from a Middle Eastern country. He came because the Lord of the Harvest called him, and he has been laboring in the Arabic speaking community ever since. He has a vision for church-planting among Arabic-speaking Muslims across Canada and is actively recruiting workers and deploying them into the harvest field (his ministry is featured in this month's Digest Network Life). I know of similar strategic catalyzers working amongst the Afghan community and the Persian community. The landscape of Muslim ministry in Canada has changed over the years, and I anticipate that God has raised up others for the harvest work here. These discovery conversations encourage me to keep praying because God is working!

Prayer is such an intangible strategy. It seems so weak. It’s impossible to quantify its impact. Prayers may take months, years, or decades to be answered. Often, we don’t see or recognize what God is doing in response to our prayers. Sometimes we never know…

But let’s keep praying!!!

Pray BOLD prayers that 10% of the Muslims in Canada will come to the Lord, by December 31, 2027!

Pray for the catalytic leaders that God is raising up to engage different Muslim ‘families’ that are here in Canada. Pray that they would be led by the Lord, and that God would meet their needs.

Pray that God would thrust out more workers into the harvest, and that he would prune all of us to be more fruitful in our Kingdom work.

Join with us on the last Friday of each month to pray together. We meet at 8amPT/11am ET and 5pmPT/8pmET. Click HERE to sign up and receive the Zoom link.
